No list of bands ought dare to show its face without first mentioning (or somehow including) musical giants such as Elvis Presley, Bob Dylan and David Bowie, who typically (but not always) performed with unnamed bands. I will of course include such geniuses in my pantheon of greatest bands.
The list (take me there straightaway) is separated into sections for your viewing convenience. It is the result of a lifetime of listening (and being transported by various genres of music), a semi-methodical review of band biographies and relevant videos, and a sincere (as well as admittedly nutty and entirely frivolous) attempt to list these bands in descending order of greatness.
As a citizen of the Anglosphere with an unequivocal bias toward that which rocks (at least in spirit), this is the music that I know and love best. Enjoy.
